WESTERN CANADA GAMES LEGACY FUND

GUIDELINES FOR GRANT SEEKERS

The 2003 Western Canada Summer Games (WCSG) in which the Town of Stonewall participated, were very successful. The Legacy Fund was created with the surplus generated by the 2003 Western Canada Summer Games (WCSG).  The purpose of the fund is to provide opportunities for promotion and enhancement of leadership and/or sport development within the four Host Communities.

WHO IS ELIGIBLE TO RECEIVE A GRANT?

Grants and support are provided for the 18 sports involved in the 2003 WCSG, which are Archery, Artistic gymnastics, Rhythmic gymnastics, Athletics, Badminton, Baseball, Basketball, Cycling (mountain bike and road race), Judo, Paddling (canoe and Kayak), Sailing, Soccer, Softball, Synchronized Swimming. Table Tennis, Tennis, Volleyball and Wrestling.

Sport programs must benefit youth up to and including age 21.

Community non-profit organizations/sport clubs are encouraged to work in cooperation with their local municipal government to submit applications as grants are made only to organizations which can issue official tax receipts.

WHAT PROJECTS AND PROGRAMS DOES THE LEGACY FUND SUPPORT?

The Foundation will give preference to projects and programs where:

 A moderate amount of grant money can produce a significant result.
 The feature of the program's focus is on access to the sport and to increase participation.

Grants will usually be awarded only for the completion of a definite objective within a specified time period – normally within one year.

RESTRICTIONS

The Legacy Fund will not be used to fund the following:

1. Capital projects such as construction and/or renovation of facilities
2. To support ongoing operating costs
3. In response to annual fund drive
4. To cover deficits
5. To retire debt
6. Endowment funds.

APPLICATION SUBMISSIONS WILL BE ONGOING AND REVIEWED QUARTERLY

Each applicant is required to complete an application form and submit it with supporting documents
