THE QUARRY PARK AT STONEWALL, MANITOBA BOASTS A DISTINCT REFRESHING BLEND OF HUMAN, INDUSTRIAL AND NATURAL THEMES, THE LIKE OF WHICH IS RARELY MIRRORED IN CANADIAN HISTORIC SITES. NESTLED ON THE NORTHERN EDGE OF THE TOWN OF STONEWALL, THE PARK'S PICTURESQUE SURROUNDINGS PRESENT A PHENOMENAL OPPORTUNITY FOR CREATING A NOTABLE AND DISTINCTIVE PRESENCE.

Our Story
The Town of Stonewall came into being as an industrial town with a workforce of diverse nationalities of men who toiled in the limestone quarries. For decades life in Stonewall revolved around the quarries. The quarries that were once the lifeblood of the community ceased operating in the 1960's. The abandoned kilns stood as silent reminders of the past and of the men whose labour helped shape the community.
The Town of Stonewall felt it was important to recognize the contribution of the quarries to the community and developed an abandoned quarry into a beautiful park. Stonewall Quarry Park opened on June 10, 1985. The Park's visitor Reception Centre (VRC) included an observation tower, administrative space, a museum and a small multipurpose area. The VRC and all its contents were completely destroyed by fire on November 11, 2007.
The need to replace the former VRC has brought the opportunity to bring an added dimension to the facility and has provided us with a new name: The Quarry Park Heritage Arts Centre. We have the opportunity to preserve our cherished heritage and to provide a home to Stonewall's performing and visual arts. The rendition of the planned structure shows the museum and office space and the area for the new performing arts centre.
