When the quarries were booming, large quantities of dynamite were utilized in the blasting.

Dynamite destined for use in the local quarries was stored in a powder magazine.

In 1990, the magazine was moved from its original location downtown and relocated. Local stone mason, Bill Anderson rebuilt the powder magazine at the entrance to Quarry Park
