Our History

The Quarries

The quarries began in the early 1880’s. The focus of their operation was the production of quicklime.

The process involved blasting limestone from the bedrock and then breaking it into smaller pieces. These smaller pieces were heated in the kilns. The result was a powder known as quicklime.
