Our History

Limestone

The limestone in Stonewall was formed 450 million years ago. At that time, this entire region was covered by a warm tropical sea known as the Ordovician Sea.

Creatures such as snails, trilobites, corals and cephalopods lived in this sea. When these creatures died their shells formed layers of limestone.
